Located between the banks of the Mississippi and Rock River, Moline is one
of the four cities making up the major Midwest metropolitan area referred to
as the Quad Cities. Approximately 165 mi. (266 km) west of Chicago and midway
between Minneapolis to the north and St. Louis to the South, Moline hosts many
Quad City events such as the Quad Cities Marathon, the Greek Cultural Festival
Moline and the Taste of the Quad Cities. In 1849, John Deere, the famous farm
equipment producer, moved his company to the city with the hope of increasing
his workforce. His profitable and historical impact on the city is preserved
through the John Deere Pavilion, the John Deere Collectors Center and the Deere-Wilman
House Moline. Recreational activities and nature watching opportunities are
also available at the city’s numerous state parks including Jefferson Park,
Kiwanis Park, Millennium Park and Riverside Park.
